YEAR
2023
This project was created during the Foundations of Design course in the first semester of my studies. Throughout a series of individual assignments, I explored different areas of visual design: from logo and icon development to typography, layout, and print applications. All results were later compiled into a comprehensive documentation.
Styleguide
For the documentation, I developed a typographic hierarchy, defined a color palette, and set up a consistent grid system. I also introduced recurring design elements, such as rounded corners and line accents to ensure a cohesive and unified visual language throughout the entire style guide.
Icons
For the icon set, I designed a family of five icons in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring they share consistent proportions, line weights, and stylistic features so they feel cohesive and visually connected.
Logo
I created a personal logo, exploring different shapes, proportions, and stylistic variations to establish a visual identity that reflects my design approach.
Note
At the time, I designed the logo using fixed rules like protection zones and strict spacing guidelines. I’m currently taking a second graphic design course, where I’m developing a more contemporary understanding of logo design. As part of this ongoing learning process, I’m exploring how to create flexible, adaptable identities that work across various contexts without relying on rigid constraints.
Business Cards
For the business cards, I experimented with different layouts featuring my logo, but ultimately chose a design that uses cropped typography. This approach creates a more striking and contemporary visual impression while still aligning with the overall identity.
Tourdates
The final assignment focused on organizing a large amount of tour date information in a clear and visually structured way. I designed layouts for both mobile and tablet formats, ensuring that the content remains readable, well-organized, and consistent across different screen sizes.
Learnings
Since this project dates back to my early studies, looking at it now, there are several aspects I would approach differently or improve with the experience I have today. Nevertheless, throughout the semester I gained a substantial amount of knowledge, especially in structuring information in a way that is not only visually appealing, but also logically organized and easy to navigate.
