YEAR
2024
Over the course of one semester, I created a few short motion design videos using Procreate, Procreate Dreams, and After Effects. Each project explores a different approach to frame-by-frame animation and digital motion, allowing me to experiment with timing, visual rhythm, and expressive movement. The only requirement I was given was the 1:1 format.
CARAS Gourmet
This was my very first motion design project. Since I love coffee and spent several years working at "Caras Gourmet" in Berlin, I decided to create a small animation inspired by the café.
Black Friday
After attending Tom Odell’s Black Friday tour, the music inspired me to create a small animated music video. I especially enjoyed experimenting with morphing techniques and exploring how text and imagery can creatively appear and disappear to tell a short visual story.
McDonalds
I really enjoyed experimenting with morphing, so I continued exploring that in combination with the animation principles. I turned these experiments into a short McDonald’s logo animation, aiming to match the tone of the brand.
IKEA
This short IKEA animation is inspired by their furniture assembly instructions, which often begin with a reminder not to build the furniture alone. I turned that idea into a small, light-hearted story that plays with the brand’s familiar visual language.
CINNA
Cinna is a bit different.
t’s a full 3D character project, developed from the initial concept all the way to the finished model.
The Story
Before sketching, I wrote a small backstory: Cinna comes from a world centered around spices. She represents cinnamon but is eventually cast out, a theme reflected in her clothing. Her skirt ultimately combines multiple spices, symbolizing her growth beyond a single identity.
Sketches
I then began with detailed sketches, aiming for a style inspired by classic Disney character design..
Body
I sculpted her in Blender based on my sketches and later retopologized the entire model.
Cloth
After a few frustrating hours, I finally managed to create her clothing in Marvelous Designer. The layered skirt turned out to be quite a challenge.
The outcome
Finally, I textured everything and matched the colors using nodes in Blender. I also created small embroidered details using PNG image textures, inspired by the attention to detail in the costumes of Frozen 2.
